Eczema on the hand

Your skin - chiropractic care for your largest organ

The primary organs of elimination of toxins are the bowel and the kidneys.  The secondary organs of elimination are the skin and lungs. When the bowel and kidneys are functioning optimally  the body will turn to the lungs and the skin to excrete toxins.  The skin is the largest organ in the body; an average person has eighteen square feet of skin, with a total of two million sweat glands.  These sweat glands carry toxins to the surface of the body for excretion and are an avenue of elimination for toxins produced by or taken in by the body. Once this is understood we can see why the skin can become the obvious manifestation of underlying disease.

There can be other causes of skin disease besides toxic overload.  Long term infections, inflammatory disorders, hormonal problems, gut flora issues, can all contribute to a chronic skin disease.  As we are all individuals, how a disease will manifest in a particular way varies from person to person.

Chiropractic care helps the body become healthier by keeping the nerve flow from the spinal cord to all the organs functioning well.  Although diet and lifestyle usually have to be addressed for people with skin problems, the foundational care starts with a nervous system functioning with as little interference as possible.
