Scar therapy

Treating a scar can have a profound and global effect on one’s health, pain conditions, and the treatment outcomes of any discipline. Dietrich Klinghardt, M.D., PhD, a German born pain specialist practicing in the United States, discovered the effect of treating scar tissue for benefit of the whole body.
All cells have an electrical potential across their cell membranes. A. Fleckenstein (one of Klinghardt’s teachers) demonstrated that normal body cells have a different electric potential across the membrane than scar tissue cells. Cells in a scar have lost their normal electrical potential and the ion flux across the membrane is altered. This may cause a buildup of toxic substances inside the cell that interferes with normal functioning. The abnormal electrical signals produced by the scar may also act as a sort of “battery” (of approximately 1.5 volts) that disturbs nerve fibers. This disturbance can impact the overall autonomic nervous system leading to systemic (whole body) dysfunction. It can also impact motor nerves that control muscle strength and co-ordination.
Another effect of scar tissue is its disruptive influence on the meridian system that occurs when a scar crosses a meridian or acupuncture points. By crossing a meridian, or lying along its course, the scar impacts the energy flow throughout that meridian. Even a small scar across the Governing Vessel or the Conceptual Vessel (midline of the body) can have a weighty effect. C-section, episiotomy, circumcision, vasectomy scars, and even the naval are examples of scars in the midline that cross these meridians.
Dr. Klinghardt’s method was to inject anesthetic into the scar, which helped restore ion flux for enough time for partial cellular repair to occur. The cells in the scar can resume normal activity.
The scar can also be treated with laser or by rubbing it with fresh and organic wheat germ oil or sesame seed oil. The patient rubs the scar with one of the oils once to twice per day for a period of time, usually 30-90 days, but often longer. Laser treatment, and/or use of the oils disperse this mild electrical effect restoring normal ionic function of the tissue and normal energy flow through the meridian system.
Body piercing
Holes in the body can behave like scars especially if they are along the midline of the body such as pierced navels, nose rings, and tongue rings. Navel rings almost always have a deleterious effect as they not only cross and disrupt the energy flow along the Conceptual Vessel, but they are metal and can have an electromagnetic effect. Usually this jewelry must be removed and the navel and piercing treated as a scar. Pierced ears can also have a strong effect on the meridian system as the ear is a microcosm of the body and it’s hard to have a piercing there that does not pierce an acupuncture point. Tattoos, stretch marks, and burns can also have the same effects as scars.
