Psoriasis

Psoriasis is evidence of an underlying disease that is expressed through the skin. Often its origin is in the intestinal tract.
Each of us is an individual. With improper diet, un-attended allergies, toxic exposures, unresolved infections, and use of certain medications, areas of the walls of the intestine can become thin and porous, a condition known as Leaky Gut Syndrome. In Leaky Gut Syndrome, molecules of food that should pass through the gut and be eliminated instead pass through the intestinal walls, entering the blood and lymph systems.
This is an abnormal situation and the immune system launches an attack against these molecules. As these molecules continue to cross the gut membrane there's a constant state of immune response that can eventually trigger a cascade of of inflammatory reactions that paves the way for myriad disease states, including skin disorders of all kinds. This is also the source of many “transient” allergies. Often a person will experience an increasing array of allergic reactions. The good news is that the gut can be healed and this runaway situation halted.
Normal elimination
The primary organs of elimination of toxins are the bowel and the kidneys. The secondary organs of elimination are the skin and lungs. There are endogenous toxins (normal by-products of metabolism) and exogenous toxins (toxic substances eaten, drunk, or inhaled). When the bowel is not functioning properly and the kidneys are overloaded with toxins the body will turn to the lungs and the skin to excrete toxins.
Did you know that the skin is the largest organ in the body? The average person has eighteen square feet of skin with a total of two million sweat glands. These sweat glands carry toxins to the surface of the body for excretion, becoming an avenue of elimination. Once this is understood we can see why the skin can become the obvious manifestation of underlying disease. When the normal routes of elimination are overwhelmed (the gut, kidneys, lungs) the seeds for disease are sown. In some people this disease takes the form of psoriasis or eczema. It can also lead to lung issues such as asthma, chronic unexplained cough or congestion, and allergy.
I have had excellent results with patients with skin ailments, unfortunately I didn't document the results, except for one case of a young patient with psoriasis on the hands.
