HEALING PSORIASIS
HEALING ECZEMA

Psoriasis is evidence of an underlying disease that is expressed through the skin.  I have found that psoriasis has its origin in the intestinal tract.

Each of us is an individual.  With improper diet (for the person) and use of certain medications, areas of the walls of the intestine can become thin and porous, a condition known as Leaky Gut Syndrome.  This allows toxic substances –endogenous (normal byproducts of metabolism) - and exogenous (toxic substances eaten, drunk, or breathed in) which are normally eliminated through the gut to pass through the intestinal walls, entering the blood and lymph systems.

The primary organs of elimination of toxins are the bowel and the kidneys.  The secondary organs of elimination are the skin and lungs. When the bowel is not functioning properly, and the kidneys are overloaded with toxins, the body will turn to the lungs and the skin to excrete toxins.  Most people don’t realize that the skin is the largest organ in the body; an average person has eighteen square feet of skin, with a total of two million sweat glands.  These sweat glands carry toxins to the surface of the body for excretion becoming an avenue of elimination for toxins produced by or taken in by the body. Once this is understood we can see why the skin can become the obvious manifestation of underlying disease.  When the normal routes of elimination are overwhelmed (the gut, kidneys, lungs) the seeds for disease are sown.  In some people this disease takes the form of psoriasis OR eczema.

Eczema

From a holistic point of view there is little difference in origin between psoriasis and eczema.  A similar analysis and regimen is followed with one or two variations.

The role of the liver.

The liver is the body’s main organ of filtration and purification.  As the body becomes more toxic the stress on the liver increases, sometimes requiring detoxification of the liver in treatment of skin disease.  Often, however, detoxifying the gut will render a separate liver detoxification regimen unnecessary.  Sometimes doing a liver detoxification concurrently will hasten the clearing of the skin.  Each case must be individually assessed.

The role of the spine and proper vertebral alignment in psoriasis

“Look well to the spine for the cause of disease.”  Hippocrates.

It is generally understood that the nervous system is the major control of body function.  Combined with chemical messengers it orchestrates all body function.  Interference in the nervous system will adversely effect the body in whole, or in part.  Nerves from the mid-thoracic spine (mid-back) supply the upper intestinal tract.   If misalignment exists in this area it can directly affect normal function here.  For example, misalignment here can effect normal blood circulation to this portion of the tract.  By maintaining the coordination of the nervous system through proper spinal alignment allows nerve impulses to travel freely to the intestines and skin helping to repair and maintain normal function.

I have had excellent results with patients with skin ailments, unfortunately it didn’t occur to me to take pictures until I saw the two patients pictured here.  I hope to increase my collection of pictures to offer help to more people suffering with psoriasis and eczema.  While there are some common dietary guidelines followed for general detoxification for skin disease, I always do an individual assessment of each patient, as the particular individual needs between people can vary greatly.

It is my belief that other skin disorders may respond to similar methods of holistic analysis and lifestyle changes.  Please see my bio for more details.
